Fantasy baseball's right around the corner, are you ready?

Spring training is almost here, and soon baseball will be in full swing- pun intented. Fantasy hockey and basketball have held us over, but beofore long we'll be addicted and enamored by hardcore pitching stats, managing our ever-growing DL, and trying to pick up this year's Jose Abreu. This will be a member of our staff's first season playing fantasy baseball, and if you've played before, you know it's the toughest and most in-depth fantasy sport out there. Let's see what he has to say about it.

MFC: Jace, you had a decent fantasy football season, and you're fighting for a playoff spot in your fantasy hockey league, are you even thinking of fantasy baseball?

JC: Honestly, I haven't really thought about it at all. Fantasy hockey has me addicted right now. I'm cheering for Russians and Swedes like it's my job.

MFC: So you haven't played fantasy baseball, what are your thoughts?

JC: It seems like you actually need to be a real MLB GM to play fantasy baseball. I've heard of dudes losing wives and family members over fantasy baseball because they spend so much time on it. Pretty sure my business partner's blood pressure goes up exponentially during the entire season.

MFC: You're a pretty successful fantasy player, what's going to be your strategy going into fantasy baseball?

JC: It all depends on where I draft, like any sport, but I think I'm going to load up on pitching. If I can lock up 3 solid starters in the draft I'll be happy. I feel like it'll be easier to pick up hitters and fielders from the waiver wire, rather than a top 3 starting pitcher.

MFC: Do you think playing fantasy baseball will make you a bigger baseball fan?

JC: Of course, there's no denying that when you play a fantasy sport, your interest in the game grows, not just fantasy-wise, but for the sport . I think playing fantasy baseball, along with the White Sox having a good year, will bring me back to being a big-time MLB fan.

MFC: You have the first pick in your fantasy draft, who are you taking?

JC: Shit, I haven't done any research. Who's the best pitcher? I guess I would go Kershaw even though Trout would be the sexier pick. With my luck Kershaw would get injured the first week of the season. Goddamn fantasy sports...

MFC: You sound bitter about fantasy sports, is it smart that you're trying to make a living out of it?

JC: I love fantasy sports, but it's definitely a love/hate relationship. It's like my feelings toward craft beers: they taste great and get me drunk, but they make me feel like crap the next day. That's how all good relationships are.
